Beloit Cares was born in 2013 out of a simple, but transformative vision: the Church was never meant to stay inside its walls, it was meant to move into the community and make a real difference.

Instead of assuming what people needed, we chose a different approach. We listened. We sat down with local organizations already doing the work and asked one powerful question: “How can we help?”

That posture of partnership became the foundation of everything we do.

From day one, Beloit Cares has believed that the people closest to the need understand it best. By resourcing and strengthening existing nonprofits, rather than duplicating efforts, we’ve been able to create meaningful, lasting impact across our city.

What started as a single conversation has grown into a citywide movement.

Today, Beloit Cares partners with schools, food pantries, shelters, and community organizations throughout Beloit. Through consistent street outreach, we build relationships and connect individuals experiencing homelessness with critical resources and support. We don’t just meet needs, we walk alongside people toward stability and hope.

Our model is built on dignity. Through initiatives like our Back2School Bash and Partnership Fee Program, including mattresses, bed frames, and car seats, we ask participants to contribute a portion of the cost. This isn’t about charity, it’s about partnership. We believe in offering a hand up, not a handout, empowering individuals and families to take ownership of their future.

In 2020, Beloit Cares became an independent 501(c)(3), expanding its reach and deepening its impact.

Looking ahead, we continue to invest in leaders and organizations through initiatives like the Stateline Nonprofit Summit, creating space for collaboration, innovation, and shared vision across our region.

At its core, Beloit Cares exists to restore dignity, build partnerships, and ignite hope. Everything we do is rooted in a simple belief: real transformation happens when we work together.
